Anthony Sebald

Professor Emeritus, Electrical & Computer Engineering

Electronic systems and control, intelligent systems, fuzzy and neaural systems
 

Professor Sebald is an expert in electronic systems and controls. His research interests include the design and performance evaluation of intelligent systems; the use of evolutionary programming in the design of fuzzy and neural systems capable of interacting with humans; and applications to energy, communications, multimedia and control problems.

 
Capsule Bio:

Anthony Sebald received his Ph.D. in electrical engineering from the University of Illinois in 1976. Prior to coming to UCSD in the same year, Sebald gained extensive industrial experience at General Electric and IBM. He also taught electrical engineering for three years at the Universidad Catolica de Valparaiso, Valparaiso, Chile. In addition to his professorial duties, Sebald also served as Associate Dean of the Jacobs School. He is a Book Review Editor for IEEE Transactions on Automatic Control and is a member of the editorial board for the Journal of Biological and Information Porcessing Systems. In 1992, he received the Outstanding Teacher Award from the university's Tau Bet Pi chapter.
