M. Lea Rudee
Professor Emeritus, Electrical & Computer Engineering
Structure Property Relations in Materials for the Electronics Industry
 

Professor Rudee is an authority in the application of electronmicroscopy to the determination of the microstructure of materials. This information is used to develop means of the control of this microstructure to make useful properties of materials for the electronics materials. Recently he and his students have focussed on materials for the magnetic storage industry. He has also contiributed to the understanding of amorphous semiconductors, superconductors, and materials for optical applications.

 
Capsule Bio:

M. Lea Rudee joined the UCSD faculty in 1974, after ten years at Rice University. He received his Ph.D. from Stanford University in 1965. At UCSD, he was the founding Provost of Warren College, the Founding Dean of the Jacobs School of Engineering, and coordinator of the Graduate Program in Materials Science. Rudee has received a Guggenheim Fellowship, and is a Fellow of the American Association for the Advancement of Science.
