| Tues, Sept. 2nd, 2008: ***Welcome New ECE Students*** Welcome to UCSD and to the Electrical and Computer Engineering department! Here is some important information for you to know:
Welcome week: The ECE orientation will be held on Tuesday, September 23, 2008, from 11:00 a.m. until 12:50 p.m. in Pepper Canyon Hall 106.
It is important that you attend this orientation.
ECE department web site: Our web site address is http://www.ece.ucsd.edu. All the information you need is there: the UCSD general catalog, UCSD rules and regulations, degree requirements, faculty advisors list, schedule of classes, transfer student information, and much more!
Staff advisors:
Myda Prado, EBUI room 2705, (858) 534-6395, myda@ece.ucsd.edu and Adolfo Juarez, EBUI room 2707, (858) 534-3213, ajuarez@ece.ucsd.edu. Myda’s office hours are 9:30 to 11:30 and 1:00 to 3:30, Monday - Thursday. Adolfo is available on an appointment only basis Monday-Thursday and 9:30-11:30 and 1:00-3:30 on Fridays. They can assist you with registration, academic policies & procedures, major requirements, schedule of classes, academic planning, etc. You can drop by their office anytime during office hours, or you can make an appointment.
A word to the wise: We are usually very busy during the first two weeks of each quarter (add/drop period), and during that time you may have to wait in line because appointments cannot be scheduled. However, do come back to see us after the first two weeks of the quarter; the department is a better source of information than your roommate(s) and/or friend(s), so please DO NOT believe every rumor you hear and always double check with us first.
